Start with a low device volume. High-frequency tones and bass tests may sound louder or quieter than expected. Stop immediately if a sound is uncomfortable, painful or unexpectedly loud.

1. Left / Right
Play each side. LEFT should come from the left side and RIGHT from the right side.
2. Stereo
Play alternating left and right tones. The sound should clearly move sides.
3. Balance
At normal listening position, do both sides feel similar in level?
4. Phase
In-phase audio should usually feel centered.
5. Bass
Listen for rattle or distortion on a low tone.
6. Frequency Sweep
Run a short sweep. It stops automatically.

When to use the complete test
Use this guided check after unboxing a headset, changing cables or adapters, pairing Bluetooth headphones with a new device, or troubleshooting audio that feels off during games, calls, music, or video playback.
The workflow combines several short subjective checks. It is designed to reveal routing mistakes, obvious imbalance, phase problems, bass rattle, and missing frequency ranges before you spend time changing drivers or replacing hardware.
How the guided result should be interpreted
The summary is based on the choices you make during the session. It does not measure your headphones with a calibrated microphone and it cannot prove a driver is damaged.
If only one step fails, repeat that individual tool and compare with another browser or audio source. If several steps fail, check operating system output settings, accessibility mono audio, audio enhancements, cable seating, Bluetooth codec behavior, and the physical fit of ear tips or ear pads.
Before replacing equipment
Many headphone problems come from source settings rather than the headphones themselves. Reversed channels can be caused by adapters, imbalance can come from OS balance controls, and bass distortion can be exaggerated by EQ boosts or loose objects near the listener.
